How did you get into insurance?

In 2009 I was made redundant from the company I worked for at the time. I was unemployed for 16 months then did a work placement at an insurance broker for 9 Months as part of a government scheme and the broker kept me on.

What change would you like to see in the insurance industry in the next 3 years?

I would like to see the insurance industry be more flexible and adaptable to changes. I think I'd also like to see the industry reach out to their local communities in difficult times. The global pandemic has shown us how important our local communities are.

What did you not expect about working in the insurance industry?

That I would be still in this industry after 10 years! I thought I would only stay in insurance for a few years and move on, but here I am 10 years later.

How is insurance making the world a better place?

I think it gives people peace of mind that they have a policy in place in case anything happens. They know they are covered and protected.

Night owl or Early Bird?

Early Bird.

What is your best travel memory?

So many stick out but it would have to be the time I spent 3 weeks traveling in Australia with my now wife. We did a lot of traveling around in those 3 weeks and saw some amazing sites.

Who would play you in a movie of your life?

My wife and Daughter would say Ant McPartlin as we kind of look alike, but I would pick Tom Hanks!

What’s your Karaoke song?

Tragedy by the Bee Gees. Don't pretend that you wouldn't join in!

What new skill would you most like to learn?

I would like to learn to Code and play the Banjo. Though perhaps not both at the same time.

I’m at my happiest when…

I am on holidays with my wife and daughter.

What would be your ideal dinner party menu?

I qualified as a Chef so that would be a hard one as I would have so much on my menu...

Career highlight to date is?

I work as a Garda Reserve outside of my normal job as a part-time police officer. The highlight for me was being awarded a certificate of bravery 2 years ago.

What are you currently binge-watching/listening/reading?

I recently started watching This is Us on Amazon Prime, Skin Wars on Netflix and I'm watching Hill Street Blues on DVD that was gifted to me as joke a few years ago (I'm really enjoying it though!).

Tell us a joke...

A thief broke into my house last night, he started searching for money, so I woke up and started to search with him.

What was your last Google search?

'Top destinations to go after COVID'. GET ME ON HOLIDAY!

What, from this time, would like to keep in the new normal?

Being able to spend more time with the family and getting some me time 😊!
