RSA's group chief financial officer, Scott Egan, joins ClimateWise Insurance Advisory Council
Leading international insurer, RSA, has today announced that Scott Egan, RSA Group chief financial officer, has been appointed to the ClimateWise Insurance Advisory Council.
The council builds on the growing momentum following the COP21 global agreement reached in Paris in 2015 that limited planetary temperature rises to below two degrees centigrade. As part of the council, RSA will work together with regulators to fully understand the challenges and opportunities associated with the zero-carbon, climate-resilient transition and to identify where insurance can support other parts of the financial system in its response to climate risks.
Scott Egan, Chief Financial Officer, RSA said:
“I am delighted to join the ClimateWise Insurance Advisory Council. Climate change and the role that the insurance industry can play to mitigate and adapt to changing environmental risks and opportunities is something I feel strongly about. I look forward to working with the council to accelerate action and drive behaviour change to ensure a smooth transition to a low-carbon, resilient society.”
The council will be chaired by Maurice Tulloch, chair of ClimateWise and chairman of global general insurance at Aviva.
The council's first meeting is scheduled for November 2016 and will convene bi-annually.
