Board of Directors

John joined as a Non-Executive Director in January 2003 and became Chairman of the Board and the Nomination Committee in March 2003. He was recently appointed Chairman of Aegis Group plc in July 2008. Prior to that he was Chairman of Kelda Group plc (water utility) from 1999-2008, stepping down after its sale and subsequent  de-listing from the London Stock Exchange. He has previously been Chairman of Booker plc and Managing Director of Hays plc and AGB plc.

Andy was appointed Group Chief Executive in April 2003. He was appointed non-executive director of ITV plc in August 2008. Andy's previous roles include Chief Executive of AXA Sun Life plc and director of AXA UK plc (life and pensions). He is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of Global Consumer Finance Europe at GE Capital UK, Western Europe and Eastern Europe (financial services), and is the former President of National Westminster Bank's US Consumer Credit Business.

George was appointed Chief Financial Officer and Group director in May 2004. He was previously Head of Capital Management at Zurich Financial Services and Chief Financial Officer of its UK operation. Before that George spent ten years with Prudential.

Appointed Group director in March 2004, Noël is also a director of Tube Lines Limited, Metronet Rail BCV Limited and Metronet SSL Limited, and Deputy Chairman of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Europe Limited. Noël was also formerly Chief Operating Officer at Citibank International plc.

Edward became director of the Group in July 2003, and was appointed Chairman of the Audit & Compliance Committee in October 2003. His other executive roles include directorships for Redbourn Group plc (property management and investment), IDC Plugs Limited (electrical services), MacIntyre Care (charity). Edward was previously a director of The British United Provident Association (BUPA).

Simon has been Chief Executive of RSA's International business since April 2003 and was appointed to the Board in January 2007.  Previously he spent 17 years with the National Westminster Bank Group, in the UK and US including time as Chief Executive, NatWest Offshore and Head of US Retail Banking.

Malcolm was appointed director of the Group in March 2004, and is also the European President of JER Partners Limited (property investment). Previous executive roles include Deputy Chief Executive of Morley Fund Management and Deputy CEO of ING-Barings.

John has been Group director since July 2003 and Chairman of the Remuneration Committee since October 2003. Previous roles include chairman of DX Services plc (trucking), director of Provident Financial plc and director of Homeserve plc (electric utilities). He is also governor of the Royal Ballet School. He was formerly the Chairman of the Institute of Advanced Motorists, executive director of Prudential Group plc, and was also the Director General of the AA.

Johanna was appointed as a director of the Group in May 2008.  Previously, she spent over 20 years with McKinsey & Company, with roles including Co-leader, Global Marketing and Sales Practice and Leader of their UK Consumer Practice  and the European Retail Practice. 

Johanna is currently a specialist advisor to Candover Partners, Chairman of Britt Lintner LLP, a luxury fashion brand, and an Operating Executive with Tri-Artisan Partners, a privately led merchant bank. She is also a non-executive director of the Kew Foundation and trustee of the English National Opera. She was previously the Chairman of Tate Enterprises.
