RSA celebrates double win at the British Insurance Awards 2018

RSA, one of the largest UK commercial insurers, is delighted that Jaymin Patel, a senior specialist underwriter within its London market construction team, has been crowned Young Achiever of the Year at the British Insurance Awards.

At the glitzy ceremony hosted by Insurance Post at the Royal Albert Hall in London on 4 July 2018, RSA Insurance and RSA Motability also jointly won Claims Initiative of the Year.

It is the second year in a row that RSA individuals and teams have won in both of these British Insurance Awards categories.

"Thank you to all of the shortlisted teams and the winners for having demonstrated their deep ambition and commitment to delivering great service to our customers and tackling often complex issues with tenacity and enthusiasm."

RSA was also shortlisted for Transformational Deal of the Year (Nationwide), the Customer Care Award (RSA Motability) and the Major Loss Award (RSA, Crawford & Company and Harris Balcombe).

Steve Lewis, RSA UK & International CEO, said:

“I’m very proud of everyone that has worked so hard and earned this very well-deserved industry recognition. Thank you to all of the shortlisted teams and the winners for having demonstrated their deep ambition and commitment to delivering great service to our customers and tackling often complex issues with tenacity and enthusiasm.
“I am particularly pleased that RSA’s rising stars have been awarded Young Achiever for two-years running. Developing talent by providing training and professional development opportunities to our people is a key part of RSA’s ongoing growth and success. Well done Jaymin!”

Jaymin joined RSA in September 2013 as part of RSA's graduate scheme and has become an integral part of the RSA team and the London market, writing both UK and international building and civil engineering business.

Chris Jones, London market construction director, said:

“Since joining RSA, Jaymin has become an invaluable member of the team and a true market leader of the future. He is a diligent underwriter, with a deep understanding of the market and a willingness to take on any challenge. With strong support from our team, RSA and the wider market, Jaymin grasps opportunities to develop his knowledge and network and I’m delighted his success has been recognised in this way.”

Reflecting on his win, Jaymin Patel said:

“It was an absolute honour to win this award and I’m truly thrilled. Being the second year in a row an RSA employee has won the Young Achiever award highlights what a great place RSA is to work and that it continues to nurture young talent year after year.”

RSA Insurance and RSA Motability won the claims initiative award for an ambitious, data-led proposition developed to identify ‘farmed’ motor injury claims and better protect customers. This improved vigilance has helped RSAI/RSAM significantly reduce the amount of farmed claims received.

Mark Denton, RSA Motability claims director, said:

“What makes this award so special is the fact that the industry has recognised the dedication, hard work and collaboration of the motor claims teams in RSAI and RSAM. This has been a five-year journey in the making and I am so proud of all who have played a part in our achievement.”

Richard Guest, head of commercial operations in the RSA claims team, said:

“We’re delighted to have received this prestigious recognition of the hard work and market-leading strategic thinking from a dedicated team of people across both RSAI and RSAM. This was a truly collaborative effort from every single person across the various teams.”
